The approval process
MK Draft & Design provides a complete service, so we'll take the stress out of it and take care of your approval for you.
Here's how we get your plans approved and your home ready to build...
Initial consultation and design brief
The process will start with our initial on site consultation where we
discuss your needs, wants and preferences for your project as well
as observe details of the site such as slope, orientation & services.
From this meeting, a fee proposal will be prepared free of charge.
Design development & concept design
Your design will be developed based on the details of our initial
meeting and on site constraints such as council requirements and
easements. We will discuss the design making adjustments until we
reach a final concept design that you are happy with.
We use the latest in 3D modeling software so you will be able to see
the final result before it is even built.
Development application (DA)
The development application is where the local council will assess the proposal based on its compliance with council regulations.
They will be approving a concept and giving you permission to build subject to a set of conditions outlined in the DA consent.
The DA consent will include the requirement to obtain a "Construction certificate" before construction can commence.
Working drawings & construction certificate (CC)
The construction certificate is the stage where detailed plans
are produced and structural information is specified on the plans
to then be submitted for construction certificate approval
by either council or a private certifier.
The purpose of the construction certificate is to ensure that the
final product will:
- Comply with councils DA conditions
- Comply with the Building Code of Australia
- Be built with correct methods and structural strength
Once you have obtained your construction certificate,
you are ready to begin construction.
